Lesson 05 of 5 in Module 05
⏱️ 01 Min readfreeCodeCamp and other free foundations (optional depth)
This course teaches AI-assisted static sites, not a full web-dev degree. To deepen reading skills, many learners use freeCodeCamp or peers like MDN Learning Area — optional, self-paced, not a hurdle.
Completing certifications here is not required to pass this course or the capstone.
What to open first
| If your gap is… | Start with… |
|---|---|
| Cannot read AI HTML | Responsive Web Design — markup modules |
| CSS confuses you | Basic CSS before Grid mastery |
| Light interactivity later | JavaScript track (not required for capstone) |
Healthy AI pattern: try 10 minutes yourself → ask for a hint, not the full answer → type the fix so your fingers learn.
Do this — 30-minute trial (today or this week)
- Open freeCodeCamp or one alternative you will actually use.
- Pick one section for your next study block.
- Write a one-sentence goal (specific — not “learn everything”).
After 30 minutes, three lines:
- What I did: ___
- What clicked: ___
- Next time I will: ___
Honesty check (two sentences): Why might you still use AI after 100 hours of tutorials? (Speed is legitimate — verification stays yours.)
Why fundamentals and AI work together
Studying basics while using AI is strategy, not contradiction. You decide where human attention goes: prompts, structure, review. Literacy helps you steer output instead of being steered by it.
If freeCodeCamp is not your taste
Switch resources without guilt. What matters is steady contact with HTML/CSS until reading feels less scary — paper cheat sheets and offline MDN count.
Check
- You wrote a dated 30-minute goal
- You know this is optional depth, not a gate
